中国行政区划（administrativedivision）分为几个级别（governmentlevel/level）；宪法（Constitution）规定了三个级别（dejurelevel），但实际上有五个级别（defactolevel/practicallevel）——33个省级（province/province-levelregion/province-leveldivision）、个地区级（prefecture/prefecture-levelregion/prefecture-leveldivision/second-leveldivision）、个县级（county/county-levelregion/county-leveldivision）、个乡级（township/township-levelregion/township-leveldivision）及无数村级（village/village-levelregion/village-leveldivision）行政区。

　　省级行政区具体包括22个省（province）、五个自治区（autonomousregion）、四个直辖市（municipality/centrally-administeredmunicipality）及两个特别行政区（specialadministrativeregion/SAR）。直属（subservientto）中央政府（centralgovernment）。省长叫governor。

　　地区级行政区具体包括17个地区（prefecture）、30个自治州（autonomousprefecture）、个地级市（prefecture-levelcity）及三个盟（league）。

　　县级行政区具体包括个县（county）、个自治县（autonomouscounty）、个县级市（county-levelcity）、个市辖区（district）、49个旗（banner）、三个自治旗（autonomousbanner）、一个林区（forestryarea）和两个特区（specialdistrict）。

　　乡级行政区具体包括个乡（township）、个民族乡（ethnictownship）、个镇（town）、个街道办事处（subdistrict）、11个区公所（districtpublicoffice）、个苏木（sumu）及一个民族苏木（ethnicsumu）。
